Hi, I’m Ruth (Aguirre) Man-Ging — a fiber artist, tech graduate, and the creative hands behind Ruth’s Crochet & Knitting.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Information and Computer Science, I’ve always loved combining structure with creativity. Crochet and knitting became the perfect outlet for that balance.
I’m inspired by the warmth of handmade work, and I believe every thread tells a story. My mission is simple: to share joy, beauty, and comfort through every piece I create.
My journey with crochet began in childhood. I still remember the day my step-grandmother taught me my very first stitch — by hand, without a hook. Later, my mother introduced me to the magic of using a crochet hook.
I spent months practicing, but eventually drifted away from the craft. Back then, there was no internet, no video tutorials, no easy access to patterns or inspiration.
Years passed. One day, in a casual conversation with a friend, the topic of crochet came up again. Out of curiosity, I searched online — and was blown away by the world I discovered. So much knowledge, creativity, and community!
I picked up some yarn and hooks… and it felt like coming home. My love for crochet was reignited. From there, I never stopped. I explored, learned, practiced, and started creating pieces that reflected who I am.

As a child, I practiced for months — experimenting with yarn and learning the basics.
But eventually, life moved on, and I set crochet aside. Back then, there was no YouTube, no blogs, no online communities. Without inspiration or guidance, the passion quietly faded.
Years later, during a conversation with a friend, crochet came up again. Out of curiosity, I searched online — and what I found was overwhelming in the best way. Tutorials, patterns, creators, and a thriving community of yarn lovers!
That single search rekindled something deep within me. I bought some supplies… and that was it. The spark was back.
What started as a curious return to an old hobby quickly became something much more.
I began crocheting and knitting every day — watching videos, testing patterns, learning new techniques, and most of all, enjoying the process.
I found peace in the rhythm of the stitches. Joy in completing something with my own hands. Pride in gifting or showcasing a finished piece.
Each new creation pushed me to grow, improve, and dream bigger. It didn’t take long for me to realize: this isn’t just a hobby anymore. This is a part of who I am.
As my skills evolved, so did my desire to share them. Friends and family began asking for custom items.
That’s when the idea was born — a space to share my handmade creations with others who appreciate the art and heart behind them.
I created Ruth’s Crochet & Knitting as more than just a shop. It’s a reflection of my journey, my values, and my belief that handmade items carry soul.
